Description

Teaching vocabulary can be difficult, and teaching vocabulary for the U.S. Constitution can be even harder.  Most of these lessons can not only be used with the U.S. Constitution, they can be incorporated into other vocabulary as well.

Learning target for these lessons: Students will build an understanding of the Constitution's vocabulary, how the United States Constitution is structured and how it can be applied to their daily lives.

This lesson is designed only as an introduction to the U.S. Constitution. Its main focus is to get students familiar with the vocabulary used within the Constitution. By understanding the vocabulary, students will be well on their way to understanding the Constitution itself. While many attorneys, presidents, senators and representatives, and citizens of the United States continue to try to interpret the Constitution and all the meaning the forefathers intended, a basic understanding of the words used within the context of the document will help students become more comfortable with the information housed within it. There are a lot of vocabulary words here for students to learn, so I’ve added extra lessons at the bottom for students who need extra help learning the words.

Included in these lessons:

*2 main complete lessons with 3 extra bonus lessons if you need more time
*Discussion questions
*Fill in the blank Quiz with answer key
*Short answer worksheet
*Constitution Word Find
*Background on the Constitution
*Anticipatory set
*Complete list of vocabulary defined
*Culminating project
